Think Spring is the Best Time for Selling Your Home? …Think Again
If you’re like most of us, when considering selling your home, you might assume that most people start their home search in the spring, around April. Flowers are in bloom, grass is green, birds are chirping, and folks come out in droves to tour open houses. While years ago this may have been the case, nowadays, the surge is happening much earlier in the year.
According to George Ratiu, Senior Economist at realtor.com, “As shoppers modify their strategies for navigating a housing market that has become more competitive due to rising prices and low inventory, the search for a home is beginning earlier and earlier.”
With fewer homes being available on the market in the winter, you’ll naturally have less competition in the marketplace by listing your home before springtime. For those looking to buy during the winter months (because after all, there are people who need to move all different times of the year), they’ll need to choose from the existing inventory. Not everyone can or is willing to wait until the influx of homes hit the market in spring.
Logic suggests the very best time to sell anything is when there is less of that item available, and the greatest number of buyers in the market for it.
Bottom Line: The new spring market is just about to get underway. If you’re considering selling your home, reach out to a local real estate professional who can help guide you throughout the process and position your home strategically in this competitive housing market.
